Program & Services

Nourish 282 has several assistance programs for families living within

or attending the St. Anthony/New Brighton School District 282.

Programs are intended to help families who have a financial need.

Food Assistance Program

Nourish 282’s largest initiative is their Food Assistance Program. In an effort to give families the dignity of self choice and fresh, healthy food options, a monthly allotment is provided in the form of a grocery store gift card. The current allotment is $50 a month per child enrolled in the program, with a family cap of $250 a month. Requirements for participation include that the family live within the boundaries of, or attend, an ISD 282 school and have a need for food stability. Families self choose participation.

How to help?

The greatest area of need is monetary funding. Nourish is a small non profit with a 100% volunteer workforce.  It is impossible to support  local families without your help, please consider a donation today.

How to register:

Register via this online form. Within a few days from registration you will receive an email from a Nourish representative.

Pantry

Nourish 282 has a small pantry for household products, personal care items, and infant needs.

From 4:30 - 6:00 pm on the first Wednesday of each month, Nourish 282 collects donations for the pantry at 2708 33rd Ave NE, St. Anthony (Faith United Methodist Church). It is a simple drive through drop off. Click here for ideas or a list of our most requested items.

How to help?

In addition to donating personal care, household, and infant items directly to the pantry, monetary donations keep the pantry shelves fully stocked.

Free Store

Each year in late September and early October, Nourish 282 accepts donations of new and gently used winter outerwear items from the community. A Free Store is set up for families to shop for jackets, snow pants, hats, mittens/gloves, scarves and boots. All items are free to families and any items 'out of stock' on the shopping day will be purchased and given directly to the child in need. Each year Nourish outfits almost 100 students head-to-toe in warm winter gear.  In coordination with the Free Store event, a community meal is served for families to enjoy together.

How to help?

Consider donating new or gently used outerwear to Nourish 282 to help keep a child warm during the cold winter months. Please contact us regarding giving opportunities and times of the year that items are accepted.

Testimonial

"I wanted to just take the time and say how grateful our family is for the gift cards provided each month from nourish. Thank you to you and everyone who works hard every month to get us these gift cards. We truly appreciate it. We just got done shopping at Aldi . Stocking up on snacks for school , healthy breakfasts for before school and stuff for the kids lunches. I can’t believe how much food the gift cards buy at Aldi and with school supplies, new clothes and all the other expenses we have this month we are truly grateful. Every month we are grateful. Thank you again!"

Weekly Meal Initiative

Every week generous Minneapolis chefs provide meals to Nourish families. Families are so grateful to have an amazing, nutritious meal that is completely ready to go one night of the week. Chef Liza Atkinson of Nosh & Gather had an innovative way to help her community and engage her clients in her giving journey. She brought in Chef Valerie Faure of Valerie's French Kitchen so they could include more families each week. More recently Nourish partnered with Kitchen Coalition/2nd Harvest for additional weekly meals! It is inspiring what can happen with creative and generous minds. Nourish 282 is grateful to Liza, Valerie, their clients, and Kitchen Coalition for providing meals to almost 100 people each week.

Assistance could include, but is not limited to, storage rental fees, gas money/bus passes, rental subsidy, home repairs, etc. Assistance from the Affordable Housing Initiative requires an application process and applicants are not guaranteed acceptance.
